This hand-carved, working whistle is made of willow. The small bird is also hand-carved and has the original thick milk paint. There is a tight shrinkage line on one side of bird appears to only involves the paint. Also a couple of hairline cracks in the bark on the mouthpiece but absolutely stable. The whistle is 5” long x 1” in diameter. The bird is 2” long x 1” tall. Inscribed “Rockland, ME.” Mid-20th century.
