American School Portrait of a Freemason
  • Impressive oil on canvas portrait of a well-dressed gent wears a Masonic pin and a gold watch fob with the watch partially tucked into his pocket. Dramatic red drapery shields his library. One arm casually drapes a wood chair while the other hand holds his place in the book he is reading. Purchased by John O'Neill and Peter Leonard in North Conway, NH. The original gilt frame now measures 32.75" x 42.5" (frame had to be resized after conservation which included a new stretcher). Conservation expertly done by Yost Conservation and report is available. Circa 1820.
