This fully painted silhouette has a great folk art appeal with the black painted head contrasted by the lightly painted white dress with pale blue dress and coral bead necklace. It is not just the white dress that makes it so special but also the drawn arm and hand holding a whip. This 19th century profile shows that bridge that we always talk about to Modern Art of the early 20th century. This silhouette will look great in any décor. It resides in the likely original papier mâché frame that measures 4 5/8” x 5 ½”. It is in great condition with a little spotting to the paper.
