Lovely young girl, cut-out & pasted with gilt highlights detailing her hair and dress with empire waist and short sleeves. The silhouettist also used a bit of white or pale grey watercolor to bring out details within the cutting. She/he used black to add just a few strands of hair on her forehead and at the nape of her neck. The likely original papier mâché frame measures 3 7/8” x 4 7/8” and has an unusual starburst hanger. Circa 1st quarter of 19th century.
