This simple and unique quilt patchwork is sewn from seven hexagonal patches. The six red russet patches surround a hexagonal watercolor painted patch of an Indian-yellow house with grey roof and blue door. The tree and the yard are a folksy dark, ultramarine blue. There is light staining in the foreground but the colors still pop leading us to believe this piece has not seen much light of day over the years. It’s shown in a period, half-round gilt frame on a heavy weave linen. The nearly square frame size measures 6 3/4"W x 6 1/2"H. Circa 1890.
