Stunning American School Portrait Miniature of Child
  • Strawberry-blond hair, impish brown eyes, cupid's bow lips, and bright pink cheeks. Her flower petals say, "He loves me, he loves me not." The colors are bright, and the condition is excellent. The lace of her dress is painted by dotting the paint of the white dress with thick paint so that it shows wonderful texture. The pendant frame has a cast floral border and hanger. Reverse of the gold-colored metal frame has a display window for hair. The hair receptacle is empty. Interestingly, we see the back of a card which seems to have an inscription or signature. The frame measures 2 ¼” x 1 13/16”, not including the hanger. Circa 1820.
